How a Life-Changing Moment Pushed Me All-In on AI

Gavin Reddrop2 minute read

A Wake-Up Call I Didn't See Coming

You know how life has a way of throwing you curveballs when you least expect it? That was me. A few years ago, I was powering through life, juggling business, family, and everything in between. At 37 years of age, I thought I had time and plenty of it. But then I got hit with the kind of news that stops everything in its tracks. Cancer.

Suddenly, all the big plans, goals, and projects I was ‘getting around to’ didn’t seem so far away anymore. When you’re faced with something that makes you question how much time you’ve got left, your priorities shift rather quickly.

That moment changed everything. It forced me to zoom out and look at what really matters. I had always known that our time was precious, but I had never realised how precious it is until this moment hit. If I was going to spend my time working on something, it needed to matter and that’s when I started to go all-in on AI.

I’d been in the tech and business space for years, working across defence, startups, and with business leaders around the country. I followed the metaverse trend for some time and was heavy into the crypto space, so I had seen new technologies emerging before, but something about AI felt different, it offered a completely new way of doing the things we've always done and it was clearly going to be the biggest technological shift we've seen since the internet.

Business owners were (and still are) completely overwhelmed. With many still struggling to effectively use social media correctly, all these new AI tools popping up daily was going to be a huge challenge for many. I saw a huge gap between people talking about AI and actually doing something meaningful with it and given my past experience with tech and business, it seemed like a crossover that was meant to be.

So I took everything I knew about business strategy, tech, leadership, innovation and poured it into this one mission: helping entrepreneurs and leaders build the businesses of tomorrow using the power of AI.

Who is Gavin

Gavin Reddrop

Gavin spent seven years in the Air Force as a communications and information systems controller, working on computerised weapons systems where getting it wrong carried real consequences. It's where he learned to work out what matters before touching anything.

From there he spent two decades leading technology inside global companies, then left to build and scale startups of his own. Now he runs his business on a team of AI agents and works with leaders across Australia who want a practical plan rather than another talk about how fast things are moving.
